This brand new one-day masterclass has been designed to support schools with the increasing safeguarding challenges they are facing as a result of the cost of living crisis.

“This is a deeply disturbing picture of the damaging impact of the cost-of-living crisis on children and young people the length and breadth of the country…There can be little doubt that the cost of living crisis is harming pupils’ education, learning and development. An emergency response is needed to deliver extra help for children, schools and families.”

Dr Patrick Roach, NASUWT General Secretary

Statistics from the End Child Poverty Coalition showed that in 2020/21 around 1 in 4 children were living in poverty, with the cost-of-living crisis set to increase these figures significantly.

Children who are living in poverty can be more vulnerable, facing increased risks of mental and physical ill health. It is vital that schools feel equipped to identify safeguarding risks in relation to these pupils and understand how they can best support them.

Join us for this full day online masterclass to understand more about how the cost-of-living crisis is impacting children and their families and the additional safeguarding risks challenges.

You’ll also look at the impact of increasing costs on staff mental health and wellbeing, and how your school can support them. You will come away with practical strategies and tools to take away and implement in your school straight away.
