The statutory safeguarding and child protection guidance for schools has been updated by the Department for Education (DfE). This update will come into force on 1 September 2022 and will replace KCSIE2021.
The update offers guidance to schools and colleges in England regarding safeguarding children and young people, and promoting their welfare.
The NSPCC has released a Caspar briefing setting out changes made to the guidance, including:
- incorporating the advice from the DfE regarding sexual violence and sexual harrassment between children in schools and colleges
- safeguarding implications being set out for schools of human rights and equality legislation
- supplying more information on managing low level concerns
- supporting the coversations with parents regarding children's access to online sites when away from school
