This workshop provides participants with an understanding of child-on-child abuse, sexual violence, and sexual harassment, focusing on recognising early indicators and responding effectively. It will equip professionals with strategies to create a culture of openness, support disclosures, and prevent abuse, in line with KCSIE 2025 guidelines.
This workshop provides participants with an in-depth understanding of the current landscape of child-onchild abuse, sexual violence, and sexual harassment, as outlined in KCSIE 2025. Attendees will explore the lived experiences of pupils today, both online and offline, and learn to recognise early indicators of child-on-child abuse. Key topics will include identifying harmful sexual behaviours, understanding the definitions of sexual harassment and sexual violence, and addressing the growing concern of online sexual abuse. Participants will gain practical insights into the nuances of these issues, equipping them to respond effectively.
A major focus of the session will be fostering a culture of openness, where children feel supported to disclose concerns and approach trusted adults for help. Participants will also learn how to create a safe, welcoming environment that encourages these disclosures, alongside strategies for responding effectively when concerns are raised. This workshop ensures that professionals are well-prepared to recognise, respond to, and prevent instances of sexual violence and harassment in line with statutory safeguarding guidelines.
