This masterclass offers a fascinating and valuable exploration of the way language is used by effective leaders in schools. You will come away with practical, research-based tools, strategies and resources about the language of Transformational Leadership which will have a positive impact on you and your teams.

School leaders all face the same core goals: to enact a vision for school improvement which will positively impact on the lives of young people. Successful school leaders use language to create and share their vision, present themselves with authenticity and strengthen their teams. In this masterclass, you will learn about the linguistics and psychology behind language for leadership. We will look at the way you can speak and write with intention to empower and motivate others. We will consider the four core tenets of Bass’ Transformational Leadership model [Intellectual Stimulation, Individual Consideration, Inspirational Motivation and Idealized Influence] and establish a solid foundation on which to build your own language for leadership.

FACILITATOR

Rebecca Lowman, MSc, is an Assistant Headteacher in charge of Teaching and Learning at a secondary school in the North of England. An experienced English teacher with over 22 years in education, she has devoted her career to championing teachers and school leaders through transformational leadership. Her CPD delivery blends linguistics, psychology, and lived classroom experience to help educators cultivate confident, authoritative voices—essential tools for leadership and effective teaching. Rebecca has led across several key areas in schools including professional development, performance management, Pupil Premium, and educational disadvantage. A former Head of English and Head of Year, Rebecca offers a rare dual perspective on curriculum and pastoral leadership. Her work shapes inclusive, strategic leadership practices to ensure that every child, teacher and leader can thrive.
