Active Listening is a key 21st century skill of Emotional Intelligence. Considered more important than IQ in building today’s work relationships, it can make or break the morale of your Teams.
When we give our full time and attention, people feel genuinely valued and appreciated. Listening opens a window into what truly matters to them and offers an opportunity for meaningful learning.
Empathetic Listening calls for us to place our full attention on the person speaking. It takes commitment and purpose, but the positive impact on our school community is far-reaching.
As we purposely set out to Listen with Respect, we show we care. The next step is to listen with Heart and Intent, using our Active Hearing skills to handle conversations with care and consideration. Strong Listening techniques can be used with students and colleagues to demonstrate your level of care and commitment.
This Masterclass includes Breakout sessions to practice paying attention, acknowledging, clarifying and responding – valuable skills to take back to school and use in your interactions with colleagues.
