This masterclass is designed to empower educators and school leaders with strategies and insights for enhancing parental partnerships in education. It focuses on creating collaborative environments that promote student success, aligning with UK national policy and guidance to ensure a cohesive approach to parental engagement in the learning process.

“Parental Partnerships in Education” is meticulously crafted to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the importance and impact of parent-school collaboration. The session begins with an exploration of the foundational principles outlined in the UK’s national education policies, including references to the Department for Education’s guidelines that advocate for parental engagement as a key factor in improving educational outcomes.

KEY LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This Masterclass/session will enable you to:

  • Best Practices for Engaging Parents: Practical strategies for schools to effectively communicate and collaborate with parents, drawing on successful case studies.

  • Policy Framework: Examination of the legal and ethical considerations, which stress the importance of parental involvement in children’s education.

  • Collaborative Platforms: Introduction to digital tools and platforms that facilitate communication between schools and parents, ensuring transparency and consistent involvement in the educational process.

  • Barriers to Engagement: Identification of common obstacles to parental involvement, including socioeconomic factors, language barriers, and digital divide issues, with a focus on inclusive practices to overcome these challenges.

  • Action Plan Development: develop action plans tailored to their specific contexts, using the SMART goals framework to ensure practicality and measurability.
