This course dives into the more practical processes we might follow in safeguarding. We explore the journey a Designated Safeguarding Lead might take when responding to a safeguarding disclosure made by a child, and the steps that follow - leading up to and including attendance at a child protection conference.
Often, these steps culminate in attending a child protection conference, where key decisions about the child’s future safety and wellbeing are made. This part of the process can be both challenging and vital, requiring confidence, preparation, and a deep understanding of safeguarding frameworks.
Throughout this course, we will break down each stage of this journey. We’ll explore best practice for responding to disclosures, consider what makes an effective referral, and examine how to contribute meaningfully to multi-agency meetings and conferences. The aim is to equip DSLs with the knowledge, confidence, and practical tools needed to navigate this critical aspect of safeguarding with clarity and professionalism.
Please note this is an individual module from our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Essentials Certificate.
