In this course, we look at some of the most important responsibilities of the DSL – policies, staff training and working with governors and trustees. These are often the responsibilities that feel most daunting for new-to-role DSLs as there is need to comply with lots of legislation around this. However, if we reframe this, it’s actually really helpful for us that documents such as WTtSC and KCSiE clearly outline exactly what we need to do.
Within this practical and engaging course, we will explore exactly who needs training, what they might need to know and how we can make it as effective as possible. We will also be considering which policies we are responsible for – and what they might need to include. Finally, we will look at how to get the best out of our relationship with our safeguarding governor and will engage with some activities that help us to plan ahead in this area.
Please note this is an individual module from our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Essentials Certificate.
