The 2025 SEND statisticsindicated that over 1.7 million pupils in England have special educational needs (SEN). This was an increase of 93,700 (5.6%) pupils since 2024. In total almost 20% of our school population have an identified SEN.
The governments SEND agenda is indicating that more must be done to support this increasing number of pupils in our mainstream schools and not look to increasing specialist provisions.
The imminent School’s White Paper will hopefully give us an indication of how the government mean to support mainstream schools.
In the meantime, we need to be developing support strategies for this increasing number of pupils in our mainstream schools.
This course will offer evidenced based approaches to What works for SEND pupils.
